The Tree Register Alan Mitchell Lecture 2024

Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park

7pm Thursday May 16th 2024

From Seed to Champion Tree

A tribute to the late Mark Flanagan and the trees he planted in the Savill and Valley Gardens, Windsor. Ten years after Mark gave his own Alan Mitchell Lecture at Savill on the trees of China.

A joint lecture given by Mark’s plant hunting colleague Tony Kirkham MBE VMH, retired Head of the Arboretum at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and John Anderson VMM, Keeper of the Gardens of the Windsor Estate.

Tales of plant hunting, seed collecting and how some of their trees are now the largest and tallest of their type in Britain and Ireland

This will be a unique opportunity to see these two great plantsman “battle” it out in lively conversation about some of their favourite trees and which plants may be those to consider with future climate change.

This will be a, never to be repeated, entertaining evening to remember!

Tickets are limited and will be on a first come first served basis.
